The following health alert is from WCLO and FSNET on December 22, 2008.
A Wisconsin-based sprout grower is removing alfalfa sprouts and certain sprout mixes from store shelves after routine food safety tests. The State Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection says four-ounce packages of alfalfa sprouts, spicy sprouts, crunchy sprouts and onion sprouts sold by Sunrise Farms of Neenah are being recalled. The other sprout mixes produced by Sunrise Farms are not part of the recall. There have been no reports of illness, although the sprouts tested positive for Salmonella.
