The following shmitta alert is from the Chicago Rabbinical Council on December 28, 2008.

Although Shemittah ended at Rosh Hashanah, Shemittah produce is still being sold in local stores (for example, peppers are currently being sold at City Fresh). Shemittah vegetables will be on the market for the next few weeks, while Shemittah fruit will be available for many months, and consumers can call the cRc office for details on when specific fruits and vegetables may be assumed to no longer be from Shemittah.
