The following revised South African notice alert is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg on November 1, 2010.
Due to significant confusion on the part of consumers regarding the status of the delis at Genesis SuperSpar, we wish to clarify:
The upper-level of the shop – including all deli counters located there – is NOT under the supervision of the Beth Din whatsoever. Deli items available on the upper-level of the shop are NOT KOSHER.
Only the newly re-opened deli counter located on the lower-level of the shop (accessible via lifts) is under the supervision of the Beth Din.

The following South African kashrus alert is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg on October 7, 2010.
Genesis Super Spar has been granted the following licenses from the Beth Din:

• Delicatessen (Parev / Fleishik)
• Bakery (Parev)
• Fishery

Please note that, until further notice, deli and bakery items manufactured at Genesis Super Spar may only be sold in sealed/pre-packaged containers.
