These products, labeled OU with the “Best By” dates listed below, may inadvertently contain dairy ingredients. The affected products have been recalled.

The following expanded milk allergy alert is from the FDA on May 3, 2011.

The Raymond-Hadley Corp., Spencer, NY is expanding the 4/26/11 recall of varieties and date codes of Better Batter Mixes to include one lot of #1 Gluten Free brand Chocolate Cake Mix and #1 Gluten Free brand White Cake Mix because they may contain the undeclared allergen MILK. The recall expansion includes the following #1 Gluten Free brand mixes which are packaged in white paper bags with the following markings on the packages:

• #1 Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix, 5 lb., UPC 654367435304, Lot 33310-4;
• #1 Gluten Free White Cake Mix, 5 lb., UPC 654367435052, Lot 33310-4;

The following milk allergy alert is from the FDA on April 26, 2011.

The Raymond-Hadley Corp., Spencer, NY is recalling some varieties of Better Batter brand baking mixes, because they may contain the undeclared allergen Milk. Better Batter Pancake & Biscuit mixes and Yellow & Chocolate Cake mixes were distributed in the United States and Canada through retail stores, mail order, and direct delivery. The mixes are packaged under the Better Batter brand in chipboard boxes with the following markings on the packages:

• Better Batter Pancake & Biscuit Mix, 20oz., UPC 896439002070, Best Before July 2012 – March 2013
• Better Batter Gluten Free Pancake/Biscuit Mix, 2.5lbs., UPC 896439002032, Best Before December 2011, February – August 2012 & March 2013
• Better Batter Yellow Cake Mix, 18.25oz., UPC 896439002100, Best Before January - March 2013
• Better Batter Chocolate Cake Mix, 18.25oz., UPC 896439002094, Best Before January – March 2013

The voluntary recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergen milk. Subsequent investigation confirms milk as a sub-ingredient of one the ingredients in the bakery mixes. The omission in labeling was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's quality control processes.
