Consumer Kashrut Alerts

The following food recall is from the USDA on October 26, 2011.

Judy's Catering, LLC., a Burbank, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 4,100 pounds of ready-to-eat meals because they were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The following products are subject to recall: View Labels (PDF Only):

The products listed above bear the establishment number "P-21579" or "EST. 21579" inside the USDA mark of inspection on the product label. The products also can be identified by the production dates or lot numbers 4/27/11, 6/15/11, 8/10/11, 9/12/11, or 9/13/11. The products have a six-month shelflife and can also be identified by expiration dates 10/27/11, 12/15/11, 2/10/12, 3/12/12, or 3/13/12.
The ready-to-eat meals were sent to distribution centers in the Los Angeles County, Calif. area who may have sold them to airlines and hospitals. FSIS has received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.
Consumers and media with questions regarding the recall should contact the company at (818) 953-9649.
Judy's Catering, LLC produces these items on an intermittent basis and requests FSIS inspection before operating. On the days listed above, the company operated without FSIS inspection personnel present. FSIS inspection personnel visited the plant to collect data and found that the company had produced meals on these dates. FSIS may take additional regulatory action based on the results of this investigation. FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that recalled product is no longer available to consumers. If available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at: www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Recalls/Open_Federal_Cases.index.asp..
