Please be advised that peppers and persimmon are being sold in stores and these products are grown in Israel. Due to the special halachot which apply to these products, consumers are asked to contact their rabbi as to how these items may be used.

Grains, fruits, and vegetables (and their extracts) that grow in the halachic boundaries of Eretz Yisrael are subject to many extra kashrut laws due to the kedusha (holiness) of the land. These include:

The following Israeli produce alert is from the COR Detroit on January 24, 2012.
PRODUCE FROM ISRAEL is beginning to appear in local stores , and requires taking of Terumos and Maaseros. Some examples are peppers (red, yellow, orange), tomatoes and persimmons. Other produce that sometimes appears from Israel include oranges, mangos, dates, pomelos and clementines. Frozen baby carrots from
Israel has also been found. Check the sticker, bag label or original case of all produce for the country of origin.
