The following kashrus alert is from the CRC on August 14, 2013.

The consumer should be aware that (some) supermarket bakeries take the basic cakes which come in from the factory with a hechsher on the sleeve, and remove them, and enhance them by decorating, adding more layers of cream, etc. (per customer request). They then put the cake back into the original packaging and sell it as such. Once the cake has been altered, the original hechsher on the sleeve can no longer take responsibility for the kashrus of this product.
