"It has come to our attention that an illegal and unauthorized use of the kosher symbol has been used on PALERMO brand of Grapeseed Oil."
"We have not authorized this plant and have no knowledge or responsibility of the Kashrus statues of the said product."
"We are looking into legal and other options in order to assure that they cease to use the symbol and recall this product."
Alert reissued on November 29, 2016 by the editor in consultation with the Star-K since the products are still in stores. These products are being sold at Ocean State Job Lot.
The following kashrus alert is from the Star-K on December 30, 2015.
Please be advised that Cosmopolitan Food Group and all its brands, including Palermo, Milas, Casa di Oliva, Zayit, and Original Gourmet, has been terminated due to Kashrus violations. Consumers are advised not to use any of these products, even when bearing a Star-K, with the exception of unflavored olive oils.
