Bimbo Bakery has decided to remove the KOF-K kosher emblem from many of their breads. The company is reconsidering the decision and concerned consumers should call (800) 984-0989 and let the company know of your concern.

December 31, 2018 - The following information is from the COR Detroit
BIMBO BAKERIES, owner of many brands of bread and buns, including ARNOLD, BEEFSTEAK, BIMBO, BROWNBERRY, FREIHOFER’S, OROWEAT, SARA LEE, STROEHMANN and others, plus many regional supermarket / private label brands, has made a decision to remove Kosher certification from many of its products, in order to have the flexibility to produce them on non-certified factory lines. Therefore, many products that in the past bore the OU or Kof-K symbol no longer do, or will stop certification at some point in the future. Every package should be carefully checked for the symbol on every purchase. Consumers can voice their concerns to Bimbo at 800-984-0989.
No changes are planned at this time for Thomas and Entenmann’s products, or for Arnold Rye Bread and Levy’s Rye Bread. They continue to be certified as in the past, when bearing the OU symbol.

Hilly Acres Farm is recalling eggs from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination. Sauer Brands, Inc. is voluntarily recalling The Spice Hunter Products listed below due to the potential presence of Salmonella. After initially certifying that our raw material had tested negative for Salmonella, and was fit for human consumption, our supplier notified us of the potential presence of salmonella in specific lots of organic parsley that it provided to us. Those lots of parsley were used on two specific days in our production. We are recalling other products produced on those same days out of an abundance of caution regarding potential cross contamination.
The Spice Hunter Products in question were distributed to the states of Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. B&G Foods announced today it is voluntarily recalling a very limited number of boxes of a single date code of 6 oz. Back to Nature Organic Rosemary & Olive Oil Stoneground Wheat Crackers, with a “best by” date of APR 25 2021, after learning that a very limited number of the cracker boxes were inadvertently filled with foil wrapped pouches of peanut butter cookies, which contain peanut, an allergen undeclared on the label.
This recall affects only a very limited number of boxes of the following product, which may have been distributed in retail stores nationwide:

Meijer, in conjunction with Eagle Produce, LLC in Aguila, AZ., is announcing a voluntary recall of whole cantaloupe and select cut cantaloupe fruit trays and bowls. The recall is part of a sampling investigation by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and is due to the potential risk of Salmonella.
The multi-state recall involves whole cantaloupe and select cut cantaloupe fruit trays and bowls in various weights ranging from 6–40 ounces sold between Sept. 26 and Oct. 5 of this year at all Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin. There have been no illnesses reported to date.
he recalled whole cantaloupe would have a sticker label stating Kandy Brand from Eagle Produce, LLC. If there is no sticker label to identify it, then it should be considered part of the recall. In addition, Meijer may have used cantaloupe ingredients that originated from Eagle Produce, LLC in the store made products.
