Israel: Willi Food Insect Free Rice Is In Fact Infested

"According to a Chief Rabbinate of Israel Kashrus Enforcement Unit alert, Willi Food 5kg vacuum packages of Yasmin rice with a ‘may be sold’ date of May 31, 2021, from Thailand, is infested with insects. The product barcode is 7290108504262."

"The alert explains the product, which is under the hechsher of Badatz Chug Chassam Sofer Bnei Brak, requires inspection for insects despite the fact the packaging states it does not. The source of the problem has been traced to the plant where the rice is packaged, which has been found to be infested, thereby transferring the insects to the product."

Wawona Frozen Food Voluntarily Recalls Frozen Raspberries Due to Possible Health Risk

October 30, 2019 from FDA:

Wawona Frozen Foods is voluntarily recalling packages of frozen raspberries and frozen berry mixes containing raspberries sold at Aldi Grocery Stores and frozen raspberries sold at Raley's Family of Fine Stores because they have the potential to be contaminated with Hepatitis A. The frozen raspberries and frozen berry mixes containing raspberries were packaged under the Aldi and Raley's private labels.
The recalled frozen raspberries were packaged and sold in these sizes and with the following accompanying information:

The frozen raspberries and frozen berry mixes containing raspberries were distributed throughout stores in Aldi and Raley's Family of Fine store chains. The recalled frozen raspberries were imported from Chile. No other retail packages of frozen raspberry products are included in this voluntary and precautionary recall.

Consumers who have purchased the above products should not consume them and should either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Aldi and Raley customers with questions may contact Wawona Frozen Foods at 866-913-0667 or visit the website at www.wawona.com.

Walmart Canada Corp. is recalling Parent's Choice brand Infant Formula for Babies Sensitive to Lactose from the marketplace due to possible Cronobacter spp. contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled product described below.

North Bay Produce Voluntarily Recalls Fresh Apples Because of Possible Health Risk

October 25, 2019 from FDA:

North Bay Produce, Inc. of Traverse City, Michigan is voluntarily recalling 2,297 cases and 2 bulk bins of fresh apples due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Recalled varieties include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac and Red Delicious apples. Recalled apples were sold in plastic bags under the brands; Great Lakes, North Bay Produce Pure Michigan as well as unbranded in clear plastic tote bags, white paper tote bags, and individually from retailers display trays. The recalled apples were shipped between October 16th, 2019 and October 21st, 2019 from one North Bay facility to wholesalers, retailers and brokers in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

Apples purchased at retail prior to October 16th are not affected by this recall, and no other North Bay Produce products are affected by this recall. At this time, we are not aware of any illnesses linked by health officials to this recall.

Anyone who has the recalled product in their possession should not consume it. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
The recall was initiated as a result of a finished product test that indicated the presence of the organism. Upon notification, we immediately ceased the production and distribution product from the identified facility and continue our investigation as to what caused the issue, in cooperation with FDA.
We have notified our commercial customers to whom we shipped the recalled product and are working with them to remove recalled product from commerce.
