Nature’s Path Foods announced a voluntary recall of a specific production run of EnviroKidz Choco Chimps, Gorilla Munch and Jungle Munch cereals for they may contain undeclared gluten (wheat and barley). People who have a wheat allergy, celiac disease or sensitivity to gluten and wheat should not consume the cereals with the BEST BEFORE DATE listed below due to potential adverse health effects. Nature’s Path is also removing any affected cereals from customer store shelves and warehouses.

Peanut Allergy Alert: RXBAR- updated recall

January 15, 2019: from FARE:
RXBAR is voluntarily recalling certain varieties of bars because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have peanut allergies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. Varieties being recalled are:

• RXBAR: Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut, Chocolate Sea Salt, Coconut Chocolate, Coffee Chocolate, Mango Pineapple, Maple Sea Salt, Mint Chocolate, Mixed Berry, Pumpkin Spice
• RXBAR Kids: Apple Cinnamon Raisin, Berry Blast, Chocolate Chip

No other RXBAR flavors or RXBAR products are affected by the recall. Please go to www.rxbar.com/recall for a detailed list of Best By dates included in this recall.
RXBAR identified the potential for peanut in two varieties – Chocolate Sea Salt and Coconut Chocolate – in December and initiated a recall of those varieties. We are expanding the recall out of an abundance of caution after recently receiving consumer contacts regarding allergic reactions to additional varieties.
People who have purchased affected product and who have peanut allergies should discard the product and contact their local retailer or RXBAR for replacement or a full refund. Updated Canadian Food Recall Warning (Allergen) - Certain RXBAR brand Protein Bars recalled due to undeclared peanut

The food recall warning issued on January 15, 2019 has been updated to include additional product information. RXBAR is recalling certain RXBAR brand Protein Bars from the marketplace because they may contain peanut which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to peanut should not consume the recalled products described below. The following products have been sold nationally through Internet sales (www.amazon.ca, www.rxbrands.ca, and possibly other websites) as well as possibly through retail.

Kosher Alert Goji Berries

• February 6, 2018 from the OK:
  
  As per recent investigation, the OK has been finding high levels of insect infestation in dried goji berries.
  Until further notice, dried goji berries are not recommended, even when bearing the OK kosher symbol, unless in powder form.
  If they are intended for consumption in another form, a competent rabbi should be consulted.

• January 28, 2019 from the OU:
  Issue: Goji berry products may have a concern of tolayim. The Orthodox Union recommends that consumers check goji berries carefully, even if certified by the OU, in the following manner:
  • Place the goji berries in sealed clear plastic container with lukewarm water
  • Agitate vigorously
  • Place berries in colander under a heavy spray of lukewarm water from the sink while shaking the berries
  • Place berries again in a sealed container with lukewarm water
  • Agitate vigorously
  • Place the container on top of a lightbox and inspect water for insects
    The container should not be overloaded. Only a modest amount of berries should be placed into the container at once. Repeat process until no insects are found. Alternatively, for step 3:
  • Place a 50 micron mesh cloth between two colanders
  • Place berries in colander under a heavy spray of lukewarm water from the sink while shaking the berries
  • Filter the water in container through the colanders
  • Remove and inspect the mesh cloth on a lightbox
  
  Repeat process until no insects are found.

    The cRc, together with other Kashrus Agencies, have been finding a high number of insects in dried goji berries.
    Until further notice, dried goji berries are not recommended, even when bearing kosher certification.

  EarthKosher has received and verified reports of consumers finding insects in packages of dried goji berries.
  At this time, goji berries should not be consumed even when bearing our Kosher symbol.

February 4, 2019 from FDA:

Frito-Lay announced a limited voluntary recall of a very small number of 7 1/3 oz. bags of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips because they may contain undeclared milk ingredients.
The recalled products are 7 1/3 oz. bags of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips that were distributed nationwide and have both a “Use By” date of 23 APR 2019 and a nine-character manufacturing code of “65M127902” listed below the “Use By” date. These numbers can be found on the front of the bag along the top right side. In addition, the recalled bags will also have a UPC code of “028400564632” listed on the bottom right side of the back of the bag.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that 228 bags of Stacy’s Simply Naked Pita Chips were inadvertently filled with another flavor of pita chips, potentially exposing consumers to undeclared milk.
Consumers with the product noted above can return the product to a retailer for a refund or contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday).
