Kosher with a K: Publix pre-packaged cookies with a KD are no longer acceptable. Publix KD cookies used to be reliably certified, but the certifying rabbi has removed his certification. These cookies are sold pre-packaged near the Publix bakery.
November 22, 2017 from the Capitol K:
The Vaad Harabonim of Greater Washington wishes to inform the community that it will no longer be providing its kashruth certification to Potomac 18 Caterers. In order to accommodate bookings previously made, the VAAD has made special arrangements to certify such previously booked events through December 18, 2017 only.
Ed. note: Potomac 18 said they will be picking up a national certification agency.

November 9, 2017 from the USDA:
Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc., a Mifflintown, Pa. establishment, is recalling approximately 10,839 pounds of raw poultry products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The raw chicken breast products were produced and packaged on Nov. 2, 2017. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels here.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
November 17, 2017 from Kosher Miami:
There has been a modification to the certification of Bunnie Cakes, located at 2322 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami, FL.
The sandwiches are no longer kosher certified by KM. However, the assorted baked products on display at Bunnie Cakes will continue to be certified by KM, but only when served COLD.
The Bunnie Cakes factory located at 2328 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami sells a variety of their vegan and gluten free baked goods to stores such as Whole Foods and Starbucks, and those products remain kosher certified when bearing the KM symbol on the packaging.
November 10, 2017 from the Star-K:
Please note that Swiig Brand GET FLEXIBLE Dietary Supplement, distributed by Simple Again of Pottstown, PA, bears an unauthorized STAR-K symbol on labels displayed on some internet based retailer websites. This product is NOT Kosher. The actual product label currently available in the marketplace does not bear a STAR-K symbol. Corrective action is being taken.
