Voluntary Recall of CLIF BUILDER'S Bar Chocolate Mint Flavor, CLIF Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Mint and CLIF Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Chip Flavors

July 5, 2017: The FDA and :

Clif Bar & Company is initiating a voluntary recall of CLIF® BUILDER'S® Bar Chocolate Mint flavor, and CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein Chocolate Mint and CLIF Kid Zbar® Protein Chocolate Chip flavors due to possible presence of undeclared peanuts and some tree nuts, including almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts and coconuts.
Clif Bar discovered this issue when it received a small number of consumer complaints alleging peanut or tree nut allergic reactions. There are no confirmed illnesses associated with this recall. The voluntary recall applies to products in all pack sizes and individual bars meeting the criteria found in the attached table. The affected “Best By” dates can be found on the back of individual packaging or caddies. No other Clif Bar & Company products, pack sizes, flavors or ‘Best By’ date codes are affected. The company is asking consumers to return product to the store where purchased to request an exchange or full refund if there is an allergy concern. June 28, 2017 from the NY State Department of Food and Agriculture:

1% Lowfat Milk produced by Mountain Fresh Dairy, LLC, located at 145 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903, is being voluntarily recalled due to improper pasteurization. Proper pasteurization heats milk in order to effectively eliminate all pathogenic bacteria, such as Listeria and Salmonella.
The recalled 1% lowfat milk product was sold at three Non Profit Grocery Stores in New Jersey (NPGS).
The locations are:


The product was sold under the name Mountain FRESH KOSHER DAIRY CHOLOV YISROEL. It was also distributed by the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) in Broome County, New York. The product was packaged in a half-gallon, plastic container bearing the container code of: USE BY JUL 07 2017.
Routine monthly finished product sampling collected by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Milk Control and Dairy Division and analyzed by the Department’s Food Laboratory revealed that this lot of product was improperly pasteurized.

The OU does not certify Jus By Julie Probiotic Shots (any flavor). This product bears an unauthorized OU. Corrective actions are being implemented.

On June 26, 2017, the OU posted on their website that Superior Dark Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs, Supreme Chocolatiers, Staten Island NY has unauthorized OU: The Orthodox Union does not certify Supreme Dark Chocolate Covered Marshmallows. Some labels bear an unauthorized OU D symbol. Corrective actions are being implemented.

On June 29, 2017 the editor noticed that this alert was removed from the OU website. OU reported to the editor that alert was removed as the product is certified as kosher dairy by the OU.

Shmitta Alert: 2015 Israeli Wines

June 28, 2017 from the COR Detroit:
RECANATI and TISHBI WINES of 2015 VINTAGE are Shemitah products and are not recommended (and therefore do not bear an OU). They have been found recently in the Kosher wine sections of local non-Jewish stores.


March 6, 2017- from the the Atlanta Kashruth Commission:
2015 Israeli Wines do not have regular approved kosher certification like the OU or OK because of a shmita concern. The AKC does not recommend purchasing these products, and has asked local stores to remove them from the kosher sections. Check with your rav if you have already purchased such wines.


Shmitta Alert: Recanati Wine

February 16, 2017- from the the Atlanta Kashruth Commission:

2015 Recanati Wine does not have OU certification (shmita concern). The AKC does not recommend purchasing this product, and has asked local stores to remove it from the kosher sections.
