PregVit® and PregVit® folic 5 Certified Kosher & Passover Compliant

October 26, 2016, - From the COR:
Recently, Health Canada required that Duchesnay, the manufacturers of PregVit® and PregVit® folic 5, remove the COR kosher logo from their packaging as Health Canada wishes to limit the certifications mentioned on packaging to certifications that it controls. Over the last few weeks, the packaging change has been rolled out and this has led to questions from kosher consumers. Please note that PregVit® and PregVit® folic 5 remain certified as kosher and Passover compliant by the Kashruth Council of Canada (COR) and the COR kosher logo can still be found in the "Preparing your Pregnancy booklet which is included in the product boxes.
You can contact the Kashruth Council of Canada at info@cor.ca.

Yom Tov alert concerning Water Urns and Pump Pots

October 16, 2016 from the Chicago Rabbinical Council:

The cRc is in the process of researching whether one may add cold water to hot water urns and pump pots on Yom Tov. A number of these devices claim that it is permitted to add water, and thus far, our testing has shown that - in certain devices – this claim is not accurate. We recommend that cold water should not be added to any urn or pump pot on Yom Tov, absent a contrary ruling from one’s local Halachic Authority.

October 21, 2016 from the London Beth Din:
The Shabbos urns bearing the KLBD logo do not require Tevillas Keilim ONLY when bought directly from the supplier "Innovative Consumer Goods, Inc." in the USA or "Domestic Stores" in the UK, otherwise from a reliable Jewish Merchant who bought it directly from the supplier.
THE KLBD HECHSHER DOES NOT COVER THE USE ON YOM TOV OF THE REBOIL MECHANISM. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR RAV REGARDING THE KETTLE'S REFILL ON YOM TOV WITH COLD WATER.

Non-Glatt Meat being sold at Costco

October 14, 2016 from the Chicago Rabbinical Council, Kosher Miami and COR Detroit:

From COR Detroit: "Costco has introduced a new line of meat from Tomer Kosher Foods which is certified by Triangle K and Rabbi Elimelech Lebowitz. Please note that this meat is non-glatt and is not recommended. (Although Rabbi Lebowitz’s symbol resembles that of Rabbis Kook and Rubin of Israel, there is no relationship.)"

From Kosher Miami: "Furthermore, it has been reported to Kosher Miami that in the local Costco store in North Miami, the meat is displayed right next to the Solomon's Glatt Kosher meat, and it is very easy to confuse the two products."

Ed. note: Costco customers who miss the glatt ground beef, should fill out the consumer response form at their local store and let them know.

October 16, 2016 - From the cRc: Non-Glatt Meat
The cRc recently sent out an alert about Tomer Kosher Meats being sold at Costco which was meant to alert the consumer that Costco has now begun selling non-glatt meat and that consumers should be conscientious when shopping. It was not meant as a recommendation of said product for those that consume non-glatt meat.
