Cambridge Farms, LLC Recalls Three Brands Of Frozen Cut Corn Because Of Possible Health Risk

August 19, 2016 - From the FDA:

Cambridge Farms, LLC of Lancaster, PA is recalling the below products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The Specific products / production codes included in this recall are:


The above codes will be on the back of the retail package.
The above products were distributed in the following states: NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, VA, NY, CT, NJ, PA, OH, WV, KY, MD and FL. These products are sold thru retail supermarkets.
The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture which revealed that the finished product they sampled from a retail store contained the bacteria. In an abundance of caution, the company has included all cut corn products which may have been produced using the same lot of cut corn. Cambridge Farms, LLC has ceased the production and distribution of the product and continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.
Consumers who have purchased any of the above items are urged to not consume it and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-717-945-5178 Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM Eastern Daylight Time.

August 19, 2016 from the Star-K:
A single lot of Cal Delight Precooked Corn on the Cob is being recalled due to infestation issues.
The affected lot, expiration 08-15-17, has been found to be infested and it is being removed from the shelves. Consumers may return the product to the store for a refund.

The Orthodox Union does not certify Bill Baron's Parmesan Panko, Bill Baron's Specialty Foods, Martinez CA. Some products sold at Whole Foods Market in the Northeast bear an unauthorized OU and are being withdrawn from the marketplace.

August 15, 2016 from the OU:
Unger’s Pearled Barley (Quality Frozen Foods) limited to lot #26917 and #62318, has been found to be infested and should not be used without checking the product thoroughly. Measures are being taken to prevent the rampant infestation of the barley.

Ed. note: This infestation has been seen in the New York area

Barley Checking method (from the Star-K:

  1. Place all the barley you wish to use in a white bowl.
  2. Fill the bowl with water, a few inches over the top of the barley.
  3. Allow to sit for 15-20 minutes.
  4. If there are insects present, they will float to the top.

From the COR Detroit:
Packaged barley in general may be subject to infestation during the summer months, as the packages may be stored in warehouses with excessive temperatures and eggs may hatch within the package. It is therefore recommended to check all barley, even other brands and other codes.

Sprecher's Sodas has an unauthorized Wisconsin K symbol on the outside of the boxes. Product has been seen at Sam's Club and possibly other places.
