Kroger Supplier Expands Sunflower Products Recall

May 21, 2016 - From the FDA:

The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today announced it has expanded a recall of several products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes following supplier SunOpta's expansion of its voluntary recall.
roger has removed the following items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system that alerts customers who may have purchased recalled Class 1 products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls. Kroger has expanded its recall to include all code dates of Kroger Sunflower Salad Toppers, Kroger Sunflower Kernels, and Kroger Cranberry Delight Trail Mix.

Stores operating under the following names are included in this recall: Kroger, Jay-C, Dillons, Bakers, Gerbes, King Soopers, City Market, Fry's, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Smith's. Products can be found in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Bolthouse Farms Voluntarily Recalls Protein Beverages Due to Possible Spoilage

June 22, 2016 - From the FDA:

Bolthouse Farms is voluntarily recalling a selection of protein drinks due to possible spoilage that may cause the beverages to appear lumpy, taste unpleasant and have an off odor. These products should not be consumed. The issue was identified after the company received consumer complaints, including reports of illness. The cause of this issue is currently under investigation. The recall includes Protein PLUS shakes with 'best by' dates between 6/20/16 to 9/18/16:

Kashi Company Expands Date Codes of Two Products Related to Previously Announced Recall of Snack Bars and Bear Naked Granola

Kashi Company is amending the date codes for Kashi GOLEAN® Honey Pecan Baklava Bars and Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter related to its previously announced recall of snack bars and granola that contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by its supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
This update includes two new "Best If Used Before" dates on Kashi GOLEAN® Honey Pecan Baklava Bars, and one new "Best If Used By" date on Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter. The updated information is:

  • Kashi® GOLEAN® Honey Pecan Baklava Bars, 5-count with UPC Code 18627 10474 – "Best If Used Before"dates of Jul21 16; Aug07 16; Sep13 16; Sep22 16; and Oct20 16
  • Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter, 11 oz pouch with UPC Code 84623 10163 – "Best if Used By"dates of Aug 13 2016 to Jan 11 2017

Kashi Company Voluntarily Recalls Two Varieties of Snack Bars and Two Varieties of Bear Naked® Granola Due to Potential Health Risk After Sunflower Seed Supplier Increases Scope of Impacted Products

June 3, 2016 - Kashi Company is expanding its previously announced voluntary recall to include two varieties of Kashi® brand snack bars – including one product in Canada – and two varieties of Bear Naked® granola because they contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by its supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. SunOpta expanded the scope of impacted products after Kashi announced its recall in the United States on May 31.
The recalled products include two varieties of Kashi® snack bars and two varieties of Bear Naked® granola. The following products, which also include those that were listed in the May 31 recall announcement, were distributed throughout the United States and Puerto Rico:

Marin Foods Specialties, Inc. Recalls Raw Macadamia Nuts Sold at Whole Foods Market® Stores in CA, NV, OR, and WA Due to Possible Health Risk

June 21, 2016 - From the FDA:

Marin Foods Specialties, Inc. is recalling packaged raw macadamia nuts sold in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington Whole Foods Market stores due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The product was labeled as "Whole Foods Market Raw Macadamia Nuts" and was packaged in 6 oz clear plastic tubs. The recalled products have “best by” dates of 8/21/16 through 11/6/16, and a UPC code of 99948200132. The product was distributed only to Whole Foods Market stores in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. B
ased upon routine testing conducted by an FDA-contracted laboratory, it was determined that the raw macadamia nuts products tested positive for Salmonella.
Customers who have purchased this product at Whole Foods Market stores in the affected states should discard it and may bring in their receipt for a full refund.

Pinnacle Foods Inc. Voluntarily Recalls Limited Quantity of C&W Early Harvest Petite Peas and C&W Petite Peas Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

June 21, 2016 - From the FDA:

Pinnacle Foods Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of C&W Early Harvest Petite Peas and C&W Petite Peas because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes.
The frozen products are being recalled as a precaution with the health and safety of our consumers as our top priority. Pinnacle Foods initiated the recall after the contract packer of the products, National Frozen Foods, notified the Company of the issue. The Food and Drug Administration has been made aware of this recall. No illnesses have been reported to date. The recalled products were distributed nationally and online. All affected distributors and retail customers are being notified and the recalled products are being removed from store shelves. The recalled items can be identified by a "Best by" code printed on the back of the bag. Only the following codes are affected by this recall:
