TNT Dynamite Microwave Popcorn CHEESE & CHIVES is incorrectly marked as “parev”. This product is milchik.

The following South African kashrus alert is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg on February 3, 2010 and revised on January 8, 2010.

All Bakers Biscuits products that are kosher certified by the Beth Din are Milchik with the exception of the following:

  • Boudoir Cappucinno - P
  • Boudoir Original - P
  • Boudoir Strawberry - P.

Certain boxes of Wheatsworth Crackers are erroneously marked as Parev, these crackers are Milchik.
Baker’s Biscuit Balls (all varieties) are currently being sold in stores. These biscuits are not kosher certified.
The following Baker’s Biscuits are now kosher certified with or without the BD Diamond logo:
  • Mini Tennis Biscuits
  • Mini Marie Biscuits
  • Mini Eet-Sum-Mor Biscuits

The following kashrus alert is from the OU on February 4, 2010.


Shop Rite Instant Hot Cocoa Milk Chocolate Flavor 20oz UPC 041190-023608 Date Code JULY0511B, Wakefern Food Company, Elizabeth NJ: A limited amount of these canisters inadvertently contain non-kosher marshmallows. Affected product is limited to those products bearing the date code July0511B. Consumers should contact their Rabbi to determine the status of utensils that have come in contact with the above product. Product is being withdrawn from the marketplace.

Shop Rite Instant Hot Cocoa Mix - Milk Chocolate Flavor UPC: 4119001760 Company: Wakefern Food Corp.: A limited amount of this OU-D certified product was inadvertently sold with packets containing non-kosher marshmallows. Affected product is limited to those products bearing the date code Oct. 30 10. Consumers should contact their Rabbi to determine the status of utensils that have come in contact with the above product.

The following health alert is from the New York State Department of Food and Agricultre on Bebruary 4, 2010.

Haifa Smoked Fish, Queens, New York, is recalling Haifa brand vacuum packaged Whole Schmaltz Herring with the lot number 20, because the product was found to be uneviscerated. Uneviscerated fish has been linked to outbreaks of botulism poisoning.
The lot being recalled is a product of Norway, individually vacuum-packed in clear plastic pouches with lot # 20 indicated on the label and distributed through various food retailers in the NY and NJ area. Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled and should return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-523-8899.

BestNut (a brand of Ace Nut Traders) has a range of chocolate coated nuts as well as chocolate coated raisins which bear an unauthorized BD Diamond logo. These products are not kosher certified.

Kelloggs Cereal Bars (all varieties) are currently being sold in boxes bearing an unauthorized BD Diamond Logo. These products are not kosher certified.
Ed. note: Kellogg's Cereal Bars in the US are certified as kosher by the Rabbinical Council of New England when bearing a "KD".

The following South African kashrus notice is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg on February 2, 2010.
Jelly Tots - original ONLY – are KOSHER….but will not be on store shelves until approximately the beginning of March.
ONLY packages whose batch code (located in the white coloured “Best Before” section on the back of the package) ending in “KBD” are kosher. (Beacon will be printing packaging with the BD Diamond Logo, but until that packaging becomes available, you must rely upon the batch code.)

In response to the numerous queries regarding the status of Jelly Tots, please note that Jelly Tots are currently not kosher. A small test batch of kosher Jelly Tots was produced under our supervision and some have found their way into the community, causing much confusion. We assure the community that when Jelly Tots are finally kosher and available for purchase, we will notify you accordingly regarding where they can be found and how they can be identified.

Certain I&J Frozen Fish products are being sold with a 10g sachet of seasoning. This seasoning is not kosher certified and should not be used. The fish itself is not affected.
