TreeHouse Foods Expands Voluntary Product Recall Due to Possible Health Risk

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS) today expanded its voluntary recall of products containing sunflower kernels which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono).
This follows the announcement on May 18, 2016, by our supplier SunOpta of its expanded recall of sunflower kernels which have the potential to be contaminated with L. mono. The additional recalled products are here.

• Best By Date: DEC 09 16 for 1373312032 Meijer White Chocolate Chip Pretzel Bars
• UPC Code 2113028372: Changed “Signature Kitchen Chocolate Chip Pretzel Bars DEC 08 16” to “Signature Kitchen Peanut Chocolate Chunk Bars Dec 09 16”
• UPC Code for Essential Everyday Peanut Almond Dark Chocolate Protein Bar DEC 07 16 is updated to 4130304541 (previously 4130304341)
• Updated the below list of shipped products

TreeHouse yesterday announced the voluntary recall of products that may be impacted by sunflower seeds contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono).

Product was distributed nationwide through retail stores.

The products being recalled are listed below. Consumers can find UPC codes and Best By/Date Codes on each package.

Pictures of the products listed above will be available on the TreeHouse Foods website.

TreeHouse was made aware of the contaminated sunflower seeds by a supplier. The Company is working closely with the FDA as we continue to investigate the problem further.

Consumers who have purchased any of the above products are urged to dispose of or return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Kashrus alert on Emack and Bolio's Smoreos Ice Cream

Please be aware that while some products manufactured for Emack and Bolio's are certified by KVH, their stores are not under KVH certification. In addition, it must be verified that each product is indeed certified.
In particular, it has come to our attention that the Emack and Bolio's Smoreos Ice Cream has been mislabeled as Kosher. The product should not be used; corrective action is underway.

Voluntary Recall on Piggly Wiggly Brand Yellow Cut Corn

May 12, 2016 from the FDA:
As part of the CRF Frozen Foods recall, McCall Farms Incorporated is notifying consumers that it is recalling Piggly Wiggly brand frozen Yellow Cut Corn due to the potential risk that it may contain Listeria monocytogenes. McCall Farms was notified by its supplier, CRF Frozen Foods, of this potential contamination. No other McCall Farms products have been affected by this recall.
Piggly Wiggly has been notified of this issue and has removed all potentially affected products from its stores.
The recall applies to:

• Piggly Wiggly brand Frozen Yellow Cut Corn in a 2 lb bag
  UPC number: 4129075181
  Lot Code: CORN0J14FXA

In the event a consumer has this product, they are urged not to consume it and to dispose of it properly.
