Kosher Alert Driftwood 99% Fat Free Vanilla Flavored Lowfat Yogurt

March 23, 2016: From the OU:
Driftwood 99% Fat Free Vanilla Flavored Lowfat Yogurt, Driftwood Dairy, El Monte CA: The Orthodox Union does not currently certify Driftwood 99% Fat Free Vanilla Flavored Lowfat Yogurt. This product contains gelatin. The containers are labeled with a 'K' on the cup, however, some lids bear an unauthorized OU. Corrective actions have been implemented. The company is working to reformulate this product, and the Orthodox Union antic
ipates certifying this product. The certified product will bear an OU D on both the cup and the lid.

Kosher Alert Mini-Bicerin Liqueurs

March 23, 2016: From the OU:
Brand Vicenzi; Product: Bicerin Originale Di Giandujotto Liqueur and Bicerin Original White Liqueur; Company: Nuove Distillerie Vincenzi SRL, Italy
The Orthodox Union certifies Bicerin Originale Di Giandujotto Liqueur and Bicerin Original White Liqueur only when bearing the OU symbol. Miniatures bottles of these products are currently being sold in stores without the OU Symbol. The Orthodox Union does not certify those miniature bottles and consumers should not assume those miniature bottles are kosher certified products.

Kashrus advisory on I Heart Keenwah Products

March 22, 2016 - From Oregon Kosher:
Oregon Kosher no longer certifies I Heart Keenwah products. We are informing consumers as they may see packages both with our kosher symbol and without at the following stores: TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
Packaging with our kosher symbol were produced under our supervision and are certified kosher.
Kosher Consumers are advised to double check for the kosher symbol before purchasing.

Acceptable QT Beverages

Due to numerous requests from the community the following beverages at QT are now acceptable.

QT Update:
QT Hot Cappuccinos are no longer recommended except for Hershey’s Cookies ‘N Cream
All QT Smoothies and Frozen Cappuccinos are not kosher at this time.

Incorrect Designation of Kosher Status of Liquor product in Yated Ne’eman article

March 22, 2016 - From the cRc:
Please be aware that in the March 18, 2016 "Yated Ne’eman’s" feature of "What’s New in Kashrus" on page 166 there was column shift error where thirteen items that were supposed to be listed in the "Newly Non-Recommended" list was invariantly listed in the “Newly Recommended” list. These items start from “Napa Vodka and end with "Yellow Spot Irish Whiskey". The correct full list can be found at www.crcweb.org/LiquorList.pdf

H-E-B Issues Voluntary Recall: Select 5oz Hill Country Fare Chunk Light Tuna in Oil Recalled for Potential Health Risk

March 18, 2016 - From the FDA:
H-E-B is voluntarily recalling 224 cases (10,752 cans) of Hill Country Fare brand 5 oz. Chunk Light Tuna in Oil.
This recall has been initiated because the product, produced at a co-packer, may have been undercooked due to an equipment malfunction, which was uncovered during a routine inspection. These deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed.
The Hill Country Fare brand 5oz. canned Chunk Light Tuna in Oil was sold at H-E-B Texas stores in single cans between Feb. 24, 2016 and March 16, 2016.
The voluntary recall impacts the following product only:

Customers who purchased the product can return it to the store for a full refund. Customers with any questions or concerns may contact H-E-B Customer Service at 1-855-432-4438 Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Recall of Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 8.5 oz. and Carapelli Extra Virgin Olive Oil because of trace amounts of pesticides

March 17, 2016, 2016 - From the FDA Enforcement Report:
Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 8.5 oz. and Carapelli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 25.5 oz., packaged in glass bottles has been recalled by DEOLEO USA, Inc., Houston, TX due to the detection of trace amounts of two pesticides, Trifloxystrobin and Tebuconazole, that do not have a tolerance in the US for olive oil.
