The following kashrus alert is from the MK on September 2, 2009.

Please be advised that EMILIE HONEY (LE MIEL D'EMILIE) miel cremeux aux fraises and miel cremeux aux bluets (creamy honey with strawberries and creamy honey with blueberries) product of Les Ruchers D.J.-F. bears an unauthorized MK. This product is not kosher and should not be used. This product has been recalled.

The following kashrus notice is from the Rabbinical Council of New England on September 1, 2009.

This is to inform you that effective September 2, 2009, all products produced and sold at Gordon and Alperin Butchers, 543 Commonwealth Ave., Newton, MA will be under the kosher supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Massachusetts. The meat is glatt, there is hashgacha temidis and their products are acceptable to Young Israel of Brookline.

The following South African kashrus alert is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg on September 1, 2009.

"The Green Door Fresh Supply", located on Northfield Avenue, Glenhazel, erroneously advertised itself as being under Beth Din supervision, displaying the Beth Din logo on pamphlets and signage. Although certain products sold in the store will be Beth Din approved (including fruit/vegetable products packaged under the Green Door Fresh Supply name), the store itself is not under supervision and will also sell non approved products. Consumers are advised, as always, to shop with discretion.

"Grapple" is a processed, grape flavoured apple, currently being sold in Checkers and possible other stores. It contains non-kosher ingredients.

The following peanut allergy alert is from the FAAN and the New York State Department of Agriculture on August 31, 2009.

Petri Baking Products Inc. is recalling "Stop & Shop Home Town Bakery Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies" due to undeclared milk and peanut. The product was distributed to Stop & Shop stores in CT, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NY, and RI. The 8.9-oz. package bears UPC 6-88267-08457-7 and "sell by" date of Feb. 22, 2010 A. Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call (800) 346-1981.

The following health alert is from the FDA on August 27, 2009.

Melon Acres announced the recall of cantaloupes distributed through Farm-Wey Produce of Lakeland, FL due to potential health concerns. The cantaloupes were shipped August 13th and 14th and were identified as 41 MG 10, Bin Numbers 4753-4980. These bins were distributed to Aldi's in Greenwood, IN and Meijer in Lansing, MI, Newport, MI, and Tipp City, OH. The recall was issued following a testing on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that revealed one of a sample of twenty cantaloupes taken by that Agency tested positive for Salmonella. The FDA reported the positive test to Melon Acres on Friday, August 21, 2009. As of this date, there have been no reports of illness. Further, the FDA and Melon Acres identified the field in which the contaminated sample was grown. No further shipments will be made from the source field. Melon Acres is currently working with the FDA to identify the source of contamination.
