The following health alert is from the FDA on March 24, 2015.

Watsonville, CA — This recall is based on a recall notice from one of Superior Foods, Inc., organic frozen spinach suppliers that Superior Foods, Inc., may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
Product was distributed Nationwide at Target retail stores.

Simply Balanced Organic Chopped Spinach 10-oz steam in bag

Consumers who have any of the product identified are urged to dispose it, or return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund.

The following health alert is from the FDA on March 23, 2015.

Twin City Foods, Inc. of Stanwood, Washington is recalling the following products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The Recalled Product was supplied to Twin City Foods by Coastal Green Vegetable Company LLC of Oxnard, CA which initiated a recall of the bulk spinach on March 20, 2015 due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Twin City Foods immediately notified all affected customers and initiated recalls of the retail packages on March 20, 2015.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to not consume the product and immediately return the product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the retailer at which they purchased the affected product.

Salad Bar Creamy Italian Dressing, Supreme Oil, Englewood NJ: The Orthodox Union certifies Salad Bar Creamy Italian Dressing as an OU Pareve product. The ingredient panel mistakenly lists dairy ingredients.

The following health alert is from the FDA on March 22, 2015.

Amy’s Kitchen, Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 73,897 cases of select code dates and manufacturing codes of the products identified on Attachment A. This recall is based on a recall notice from one of Amy’s organic spinach suppliers that Amy’s may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
The recalled products were distributed to stores nationwide in the United States and in Canada.
Consumers who have any of the products identified in the chart above are urged to dispose them or return them to the store where they were purchased for an exchange or full refund. Consumers may also call Amy’s at (707) 781-7535 [Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific)].

The following health alert is from the CFIA on March 22, 2015.

The food recall warning issued on March 20, 2015, has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) food safety investigation.
Nador Inc. is recalling cumin-containing products from the marketplace because they contain almond which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to almond should not consume the recalled products described below. Nutiva, an Organic Superfoods company, has initiated a voluntary product recall of the following O’Coconut™ products after being notified by supplier that samples of a raw material in this product have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The following insect infestation alert are from the Star-K on March 20, 2015.

Please note that due to current insect infestation brought about by the changing seasons, many of the Star-K bagged lettuces that normally bear the Star-K symbol are not currently passing our mashgiach's inspection. These bags do not bear a Star-K symbol. This includes both romaine and iceberg lettuces. Consumers are urged to check bagged lettuce carefully for the Star-K symbol to ensure the lettuce has been checked and is certified.

The following shmitta alert are from the Star-K and the MK on March 20, 2015.

Star-K: Please be aware that carrots from Israel are being sold in the Baltimore area and across the U.S. The packages state "Product of Israel." These carrots may have Kedushas Shviis and require special care. If you bought them, and still have them in your possession, contact your local Orthodox rabbi for further guidance.
Seven Mile Market in Baltimore is monitored by Star-K and produce sold there does not have this issue

MK: Please be advised that fruit and vegetables grown in Israel are now being sold in stores across Quebec. Due to the special halachic implications pertaining to these products, please ask your rabbi for guidance.
