Brivais Vilnis Assorted Herring, Sprats, and Sardine Products imported byInterpage Inc. - Brooklyn, NY: These products are bearing an unauthorized OU symbol and are being withdrawn from the marketplace. Consumers spotting these products are requested to contact the Orthodox Union at 212-613-8148 or via email at kashalerts@ou.org.

Godiva Chocolate Liqueurs: Due to an error, the OU symbol was omitted from the labels. These products continue to be certified without change as follows:
Godiva Chocolate Cream Liqueur, White Chocolate Cream Liqueur and Cappuccino Liqueur are Kosher and Dairy.
Godiva Chocolate Liqueur is Kosher and Parve.

The following health alert is from the FDA on February 5, 2007.

McKee Foods, Collegedale, TN., is recalling certain Little Debbie® Nutty Bars in GA, MD, NC and VA because an ingredient may contain small particles of metal. These products were distributed to retailers and in vending machines on Thursday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 2. The Nutty Bars are in the following retail packages:

  • 12 oz. cartons, (12 bars, twin wrapped) with one of these carton-end codes:
    Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007 01302091
    or Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2996 01312091; 25.2 oz. cartons, (24 bars, twin wrapped) with these carton-end codes:
    Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007 01302101
  • or Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007 01302102; 3 oz. single-serve packages (2 bars, twin wrapped) with this code: Sell By APR 01 2007 01312101
The particles were detected through internal quality checks. Consumers who have purchased products with these codes are asked to contact McKee Foods at 1-800-522-4499 for information and a full refund.

Carolina Brocolli with Cheese Rice Mix with Seasonings contains non-ksoher chese and chicken fat, but mistakenly had a Star-K symbol on the package. The manufactuer had attempted to cover up the Star-K, however, this has not been totally sucessful.

The following kashrus alert is from the Chicago Rabbinical Council on February 5, 2007.

Please be aware that all pre-seasoned cast iron pots could possibly be non-kosher due to the use of hot oils in the process. Due to the current lack of sufficient information on the source of oils being used, to our knowledge, presently, there are no brands that can be used without proper kashering prior to use.
