Bosch Cooking Products UPDATE #2

April 1, 2016 From the Star-K:
Please note the following about the Bosch HBLP651LUC, HBLP651RUC, and HBLP651UC built-in double ovens. There is a problem with the Sabbath Mode in the lower oven only. The upper oven works correctly in Sabbath Mode.
Please contact bosch-usa-questions@bshg.com or call Bosch customer service at 800-944-2904 if you own one of these models. Please provide your name, phone number, and email address, so that the company can coordinate service. Bosch will schedule a service appointment to repair the affected models free of charge. The manufacturer is working on a fix. Updates will be posted on our website.

Bosch Cooking Products UPDATE

March 17, 2016: From the Star-K: Please note the following about the Bosch HGI8054UC and HGIP054UC models of slide-in gas ranges: The oven’s heating source shuts off immediately when the door is opened and re-ignites when it is closed, even when the oven is in Sabbath Mode.
Consumers are advised not to open or close the oven door on Shabbos or YomTov while the oven is on.
If you own one of these models, please contact George.May@BSHG.com or Tyler.Corby@bshg.com. Please provide your name, phone number, and email address, so that the company can coordinate service. The manufacturer is working on a fix to be provided, hopefully, before Passover.

Kashrus alert on Barzini's Supermarket

April 1, 2016: From the Star-K:
Please be advised that Barzini's supermarket, located at 2451 Broadway, New York, NY, has been sellling non-kosher products labeled Star-K kosher with Barzini's brand name. Star-K has not certified this store, and the labels are unauthorized. Star-K has taken corrective action.

Mislabeled Sugarfina Martini Olive Almonds

March 30, 2016: From the Kof-k:
Please note that Sugarfina brand Martini Olive Almonds were mistakenly labeled as Parve and in fact, as per the ingredient legend, are dairy. The company is initiating a recall of the effected product and all future labels will correctly indicate the item is certified KOF-K Dairy. Alpine Valley Breads now certified Pas Yisroel

STAR-K is happy to announce that ALL Alpine Valley Bread products baked after 3/16/2016 are certified pas yisroel. Products with the number Q076 or higher on the plastic bag fastener were baked after 3/16/2016

Garden of Life Expands Voluntary Recall to Include Additional Lots of Raw Meal Products Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

February 13, 2016- Additional FDA recall:
Garden of Life LLC is expanding its January 29th voluntary recall to include additional lots of its Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Chocolate, Original, Vanilla and Vanilla Chai products because an ingredient used in certain lots of the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Virchow. the Company has now identified the likely source of Salmonella contamination to be Organic Moringa Leaf powder from a supplier used only in Raw Meal. Because other Garden of Life products containing Moringa use different suppliers, only Raw Meal is exposed.
Garden of Life has requested that retailers remove the lots of Raw Meal from sale and that consumers check the lot number on their Raw Meal product and return any products involved in this recall to their point of purchase for a full refund.

No other Garden of Life products are affected by this recall.

Garden of Life, LLC Recalls Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Products Because of Possible Health Risk

January 29, 2016 - Garden of Life LLC is voluntarily withdrawing a limited quantity of its Raw Meal Organic Shake & Meal Chocolate, Original, Vanilla and Vanilla Chai because they have the potential to contain Salmonella Virchow.
Consumers who believe they may have a Raw Meal product affected by this recall, should look for the following lot codes prominently stamped on the underside of the plastic container. The following is the list of lots affected:

If, however, a consumer has purchased a product from any of the lot codes listed wishes to return it, they should return the unused portion of the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions may be directed to the company at 1-866-465-0051, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST.

Dairy allergy alert on Trader Joe's Chocolate Orange Sticks and Trader Joe's Chocolate Raspberry Sticks

March 25, 2016: From the FDA:
Trader Joe's of Monrovia, California is voluntarily recalling all codes of Trader Joe's Chocolate Orange Sticks (UPC 00847162) and Trader Joe's Chocolate Raspberry Sticks (UPC 00847122) because the products may contain more than the stated "traces of milk" on the label. All affected product has been removed from store shelves.
Trader Joe's Chocolate Orange Sticks and Trader Joe's Chocolate Raspberry Sticks are packaged in an 18 oz. clear tub. The products were distributed to Trader Joe's stores nationwide. Trader Joe's initiated the voluntary removal of these products after noticing the chocolate coating appeared lighter in color than expected. Two allergic reactions have been reported to date.
Customers who have purchased the Trader Joe's Chocolate Orange Sticks and/or Trader Joe's Chocolate Raspberry Sticks may return them to Trader Joe's for a full refund. Customers with questions may contact Trader Joe's customer relations at (626) 599- 3817, 6AM-6PM PST, Monday-Friday.
