A proposal to label meat which has not been stunned before slaughter will go before the European Parliament in July this year. The label would read "meat from slaughter without stunning" on relevant food products. The proposal targets meat slaughtered using ritual techniques like those employed by Jewish shechita and Muslim halal butchers
