The following news is from the Foodmanufacture.com on August 5, 2104.

The European FSA scientists have discovered possibly hazardous levels of morphine in some food-grade poppy seeds. Poppy seeds themselves do not contain opioid compounds but the seeds could be contaminated by compounds in the stalks and seed capsules of the plants. There was few reports of adverse affects from consumption of poppy seeds but this could be a problem for toddlers.
