Food News

THIS SECTION IS FOR NEWS AND INTERESTING STORIES RELATED TO FOOD, NUTRITION AND FOOD PROCESSING. THEY ARE NOT NECESSARILY RELATED TO KOSHER BUT MAY BE OF INTEREST TO THE KOSHER CONSUMER, MANUFACTURER OR MASHGIACH.

The following news is from the Farmers Weekly on August 8, 2104.

The British Veterinary Association has called for an outright ban on an exemption that allows animals to be slaughtered without stunning for religious reasons. They was meat products to be labeled if they come from non-stunned animals. They ahve started a nationwide petition that has gotten 72,0000 signatures. 100.000 signatures will trigger a debate in the House of Commons.
Supporters of religious slaughter feel that this is unfairly targeting them and would then want all meat labeled as to how the animal was stunned and killed.
