Medications

Medications contain many component ingredients, and pharmaceutical companies are very secretive about their formulations. The following listing of recommended over-the-counter medications is based on the manufacturers disclosure and other research and is as accurate as possible. This is only a partial listing; please check with the cRc office (773-465-3900) for additional information.

All prescription medications for serious illness, ordered by your doctor, should be taken on Passover without regard for the components of the medication.

Antacids: Alka Seltzer, Alka Seltzer Plus, Bromo Seltzer Antacid, Mylanta (All), Pepcid (Tablets, Suspension, AC Acid Controller), Pepto-Bismol (all forms), Rolaids Extra Strength, Zantac 75, tablets,

Anti-diarrhea: Imodium Chewable, Kaopectate,  (Regular & Extra Strength Formula).

Miscellaneous: A & D Ointment, Caladryl (all forms), Dr. Scholl’s Foot Powders, Lotrimin (AF Cream, AF Powder & Solution, AF Spray Liquid/Powder for Athlete’s Foot), Metamucil except wafers, Milk of Magnesia, Pedialite (Kitniyos), Tinactin (Cream, Powder, Deodorant Powder, Liquid Aerosol, Pump Spray, wipes).

Vitamins: The p’sak from Rabbi Schwartz is that vitamins should have hashgocha for Passover.  If your doctor prescribes vitamins that do not have Passover supervision, check with your local Rabbi.  Although the following do not have certification for Passover, they do not contain chometz.  Fer-Iron Drops, NataChew, NeoForte, Viactiv Soft Calcium Chews
