Since Erev Pesach is on Saturday this year, all foods for the Sabbath must be prepared according to the Passover requirements with Passover utensils. However, no chometz may be eaten on this equipment.
Special Guidelines for Passover 5768
With the first Seder occurring on Saturday night this year, a number of variations occur from the standard routine of events leading up to Passover
All meals on the Sabbath should be eaten on Passover or disposable dishes. For the requirement of eating bread over the Sabbath, one should use small rolls, making sure they do not come in contact with any food or utensils to be used over Passover and that all crumbs are disposed of properly. Alternately, some opinions allow for the eating of egg matzah in place of bread. Kol Chamira should be recited before 10:27 AM, Saturday, April 19th.
For the third meal on Sabbath (Seudah Shlishit), some opinions suggest trying to eat two meals before the time where chametz is forbidden, while others permit the eating of fish, fruit, or matzah meal products as a replacement for bread.
One should not do any preparations for the Seder on the Sabbath.
If you have further questions, call the Vaad at 617-426-2139.
