Effective immediately, Solstice Industries and Nectar Transport, both of Chicago, IL, have ceased operations, and as such, are no longer under the certification of the cRc.

The following kashrus alert is from the CRC on January 30, 2007.

Although there was a possibility that Flavorchem was no longer going to be under the supervision of the cRc, it has now been decided that the certification will remain unchanged and they will continue to be certified by the cRc. There was never any lapse in kashrus. Our apologies for any confusion or inconvenience.

The following kashrus alert is from the OU on January 7, 2007.

Idahoan Instamash Mashed Potatoes (Foodservice item distributed in Canada), Idahoan Foods, Inc. - Lewisville, ID: This certified product (which bears an incorrect OU-D Pareve designation) contains dairy ingredients as listed on the ingredient panel. Future packaging will be revised.

The following kashruth Alert was received from the Chicago Rabbinical Council on November 17, 2006 .

It has come to our attention that a forged copy of a cRc kosher letter of certification for Greenwood Associates, Highland Park, IL, is being circulated. The letter lists "Grape Juice Concentrate, White". While Greenwood does produce a kosher grape juice concentrate, it is only available with special on-site supervision and should not be listed on the standard kosher certification letter. If you should see a copy of this forged letter, please call the cRc office at 773-465-3900 ext. 117.

Greenwood Associates is a cRc client in good standing and has no involvement in this forged document.

Spectrum Organic Balsamic Vinegar in Drums, Spectrum Organic Products- Petaluma, CAL This industrial product bears an unauthorized OU symbol and is not certified as kosher by the Orthodox Union. This product is being withdrawn from the marketplace. Individuals spotting this product are requested to contact the Orthodox Union at 212-613-8148 or via email at kashalerts@ou.org

The following health alert is from the FDA on November 1, 2006.

Krisp-Pak Company, Inc., Norfolk, VA is recalling all lots of Krisp-Pak Brand packaged fresh cut fruit with expiration dates on or before 11/09/06, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The product comes in plastic containers in 4 ounce cups, 8 ounce cups, 1 pound cups, 3 pound tubs, 10" trays (2.5 pounds) and 13" trays (4.5 pounds) for retail suppliers. The product is packaged in 5 pound trays for foodservice suppliers. The products being recalled include individually packaged cantaloupe or honeydew or red grapes, and a mixture of the three. The recall is limited to these products only.
The recalled fresh cut fruit was distributed in the Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA areas and the Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, NC areas through retail stores and foodservice distribution centers.
Consumers who have purchased Krisp-Pak Brand fresh cut fruit are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Krisp-Pak at 1-800-755-0746.
