Please be advised that as of May 6, 2010 Sasol Yihai (Lianyungang) Alcohol Industries Co., Ltd) (Liangugang, Jiangsu, China) is no longer certified by OK Kosher Certification. Due to market demand, they have switched to Talow based fatty acid.

The following kashrus advisory is from the Rabbinical Council of California on June 25, 2010.

Seaweed used as a warp for Sushi can be infested with tiny sea horses. Please be advised that only seaweed with numbered RCC label OR "United Kosher Food" label is supervised by the RCC. The appearance of “RCC” on any other packaging or label, is inadvertent or fraudulent.

Harvest Fresh Sunfield brand Cut Baby Corn in 106 oz. cans (6lbs 10 oz), distributed by Inteco, bear an unauthorized Star-K. Corrective action is being taken.

The following allergy alert is from the FDA on June 18, 2010.

Rich Products Corporation, Buffalo, NY voluntarily recalled its Allen Bavarian Crème Filling (product code 02881) with Production codes 11870137F21, F-22, F-23, F-24, F-25, because the product may contain undeclared pecans, milk, and coconut.
The pail size is 3.5 gallons. Pail weight is 31.0 lbs and the pail material is HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). Allen Bavarian Crème Filling is not packaged for retail distribution and is sold to foodservice distributors and in-store bakeries nationwide. Rich’s has already notified all of its distributors and customers who have received the products in question and has directed them to remove and destroy the affected products.

The following Kashrus and Passover alert is from the Vaado of Buffalo on May 12, 2010.

Please be advised that Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate produced by Niacet inc., located in Niagara Falls USA, was mistakenly marked as certified for Passover. This product is NOT Kosher for Passover (can contain Kitniyos) while it is Kosher for non-Passover use if a BVK letter is presented specifically for this product. ALL LOCs for Niacet Inc. must be dated May 2010 - December 2010 to be viable.

The following health alert is from the FDA on May 6, 2010.

Freshway Foods is voluntarily recalling products containing romaine lettuce with a use by date of May 12 or earlier because they have the potential to be contaminated with Escherichia coli O145 bacteria (E. coli O145). The products were sold under the Freshway brand and Imperial Sysco brand. The company is working with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to inform consumers of this recall.
This recall includes romaine lettuce products sold by Freshway Foods for food service outlets, wholesale, and in-store retail salad bars and delis; no other products are involved. Freshway Foods does not produce bulk, prepackaged romaine or bagged salad mixes containing romaine for sale in supermarkets, and therefore these products are not included in this recall. A list of recalled products can be found at FDA and at www.freshwayfoods.com.
