he following kosher alert was received from the Star-K on July 18, 2000.

BEST BUY Company of Milan, Italy advertised in their brochure at the FANCY FOOD SHOW (NY) that their line of PARMESIAN CHEESES and DOLCEVITA CAKES are under the co-certification of the Star-K, OU and Chug Chasam Sofer. These products are not certified by the above mentioned agencies and bear unauthorized kosher symbols.

he following kosher alert was received from the Kosher Overseers on July 7, 2000.

Leahy/IPF, Inc. products Carbatrol Grape 100% Fruit Juice and Valuetrol Grape Base Concentrate were mistakenly mislabeled Kosher-Pareve. These products contain non-kosher grape juice concentrate and were not authorized to bear the Kosher Overseers trademark. This error has been removed from all labels.

The following kosher Alert was received from Kof-K on June 28, 2000.

Please note that Ciba Specialty Chemicals (a.k.a. CPS Chemical), Woodbridge/Oldbridge, NJ has decided to discontinue their kosher program. This will be effective June 30, 2000. Products produced after that date will not bear the Kof-K emblem. The following products will be affected:

  • Ciba Brand Isoamyl Alcohol
  • Ciba Brand Iso Butanol
  • Ciba Brand Fusal Oil

From information that we have received from the Kosher Consumers Union on June 26, 2000 we have confirmed the following with the KAJ and CRC(Hisachdus Harabonim).

Fink's Bakeries are certified by the Kof-K. Sowo and Francoz Bakery products are under the CRC (Hisachdus Harabonim) or KAJ. Check the package for the certification.

Sun Light Cooking Wine (Gallon Size), Sunlight Foods Inc., Miami FL mistakenly bears an unauthorized OU and is not kosher. The product is being recalled.

The following heath Alert was from the FDA on May 31, 2000.

Pineapple Chunks packed in natural juice, in 108-ounce (6-pound 12-ounce) containers with a top line of 108912 produced by Summerpride Foods, Inc., East London, South Africa was recalled because product contains elevated levels of tin. This product is recalled by Sunlight Foods, Inc., Miami, Florida, by letter on April 13, 2000. The Firm-initiated recall ongoing. The product distribution was in Florida and 782 cases (6 cans per case) were distributed.

Please be advised that KFC#9062 issued to Rhodia, Madision, WI for DPL Culture Products that are Kosher for Passover was inadvertently issued as OK Pareve. The products are Dairy and are labeled as OK dairy. For more information call the OK Laboratories at 718-756-7500
