Consumers should be aware that many drinks at Starbucks are not acceptable, due to Kashrus issues with either their ingredients or with the equipment used in their preparation. Even a seemingly innocent item such as a plain black coffee is problematic in a full-service store, because the coffee-making utensils may be washed together with non-Kosher dishes.

The cRc and the Star-K have thoroughly researched these issues, and have compiled guides to recommended and non-recommended Starbucks drinks. Please note the following:

• Flavor syrups & sauces - consumer should check the bottle for reliable certification.
• Toppings & inclusions - only those approved in the above guides should be used.
• Many airport locations now sell hot meat sandwiches and are “full-service” stores.
• Some Starbucks kiosks, such as those found at Target, share sinks and other equipment with nearby stores, and therefore have the status of full-service stores.
