September 20, 2019:
- Freshly baked items using spring wheat, including breads, challahs, bagels, rolls, pizza and some cakes and cookies may be Chodosh in the Midwest after the PURCHASE DATE of August 15. Elsewhere in the US, this date would be Aug 23.
- Packaged foods from spring wheat may be Chodosh after the PACKING date of August 15, or the PURCHASE date of Aug 23.
- Noodles and pasta may be Chodosh after the PACKING date of August 22, or the PURCHASE date of Sept 2.
- Barley, such as pearled barley, may be Chodosh after the PACKING date of August 13 and PURCHASE date of Aug 22.
- Oats: Oats in all products, including cereals, may be Chodosh starting with a PACKING date of August 2, PURCHASE date of Aug 16. An exception is the oats in General Mills cereals that may be Chodosh starting with a packing date of Sept 15.

The guide is in progress and will be published as soon as possible. The guide cannot be finished until the Durum wheat, used in noodles and pasta, is harvested.
August 13, 2019:
Chodosh oats are already in production and may reach the shelves by the end of this week.
The wheat and barley harvest have begun and we will let you know as soon as we have a cut off date. At this point, anything on the shelves in still Yoshon.
The harvest of durum wheat, used in pasta has begun as well. Anything available is still Yoshon.
August 6, 2019:
Oats have a chodosh date this year of August 2nd. Anything produced before this date is Yoshon. Anything produced after this date may be chodosh.
Oats have a purchase date of August 16. Anything purchased through August 16th does not need to be checked for Yoshon status. Anything purchased after this date needs to be checked.
The spring wheat and barley harvest have begun. Cut off dates will be within the next two weeks. Updates will be issued when available. Items purchased in stores do not need to be checked yet unless you are getting direct from the grower.
July 31, 2019:
The harvest is proceeding slowly. A projected oats date is August 3rd. This date may change to later as more information comes in.
We do not yet have dates for wheat or barley as the harvest of those crops have not yet begun.
Updates should be available next week Tuesday.
July 23, 2019: The oat harvest has begun. The wheat harvest is due to start shortly. Barley and Durum Wheat used in pasta are not far behind. While I do not have a cut off date yet, I am expecting to have one by next week.
Oats can safely be purchased for the next 2 weeks.
