Kashrut alert/advisory - Fairway Bakeries

May 28, 2020 - From the Kof-K:

The following Shop Rite/Falrway store bakeries that were formerly Fairway and certified by Mehadrin Kashrus are now certified by the Kof-K:

• Broadway (74th st.)
• Upper East Side (86th st.)
• Kips Bay
• Chelsea
• Pelham Manor
• The Production/Distribution Center in Hunts Points

May 26, 2020 - From Mehadrin Kashrus:

Mehadrin Kashrus is no longer supervising the bakery at Fairway on 74th Street. Supervision has also been removed from the Fairway at East 86th Street, Kips Bay and Chelsea.

This was a decision made by the new owners of Fairway, Village Supermarkets (Shoprite) which has purchased 5 Fairway locations and the central bakery.

Fairway at 125th Street (which has not been sold) is still kosher BUT is temporarily purchasing baguettes from an outside vendor, these are therefore not under supervision. This applies also to the stores in Red Hook, Douglaston, Westbury, Plainview and Stamford.

Hopefully within a few days an acceptable source will be found for kosher baguettes and they will revert to being under supervision.

Fairway in Georgetown is now Foodway, and has kosher baguettes and rolls.
