Newer Passover Alerts

The following Passover alert is from the Chicago Rabbinical Council on March 17, 2006.

Due to a computer error, recent kosher letters for Mastertaste Zesti Division stated that all products were certified for year round use including Passover. While there are many products that are certified for Passover, there are a significant number that are kosher/pareve for year round only and not for Passover. A corrected letter is being re-issued. If anyone has a question about a specific item, please call the cRc office at 773/465-3900 ext. 104.

The following Passover alert is from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate for Sephardim on January 31, 2005.

Cumin resembles Shibolet ShuAl ( spelt? - one of the 5 types of grains). Any product spiced with cumin has to be specially inspected by someone who knows how to tell it apart from spelt.
After removing the cumin, soak it for 35 minutes, then dry it and grind it.
All inspections have to be done by certified people.
All of the above deals with using cumin as a spice for Pesach.
