From the FDA on March 7, 2015 - Specialty Commodities, Inc., (SCI) of Fargo, N.D., a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), is recalling a specific lot of dry roasted almonds because they may contain undeclared cashews.
The recalled dry roasted almonds were distributed to six customers in Arizona, California and Colorado. They were shipped in 25 lb. cartons, marked with lot #1050188-1-16007 on the side of the cardboard cartons. The cartons were distributed to other food production companies for further processing and packaging—they are not distributed directly to consumers for sale in retail outlets. The recalled dry roasted almonds were distributed between January 26, 2016 and February 16, 2016.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the cashew-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of cashews. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary process breakdown by a third-party, contract manufacturer that processed and packaged the almonds for SCI. The dry roasted almonds were inadvertently mixed with cashews before being forwarded to impacted customers. Representatives of SCI have notified these customers of the recall and provided return instructions.
Please direct any customer inquiries to 701-282-8222 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time Monday through Friday.
