The Orthodox Union certifies Member's Selection as an OU D - Dairy product. This product contains dairy as indicated in the ingredients list. Some labels were printed with a plain OU without the D - Dairy designation. This product is sold mostly in Latin America. Corrective actions are being implemented.

Turkana Food Inc. Recalls Aleppo Tahini Sesame Paste 1lb (16oz) Because of Possible Health Risk

February 6, 2025 from the FDA:

Turkana Food Inc. Kenilworth, NJ is recalling 858 cases OF Aleppo Tahini Sesame Paste because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The Recalled Aleppo Tahini Sesame Paste was distributed in the states of FL, KY, VA, NY, NJ, TN, MA, TX, Il, IN, MI, RI, PA, NC, MD, VA, OH, AL, MO, CA.

The Recalled 1lb (16oz plastic jar Brand name Aleppo Sesame Paste Tahini. The product packaging is a 16oz plastic jar with a gold lid and gold label marked Aleppo Sesame Paste Tahini.
LOT# 120824-01 can be found on the top portion of the jar.
UPC Label 854643003054 marked by a sticker on the side of the jar.
Expiration Date August 2026, which can be found on the top portion of the jar.
No reported illnesses have been confirmed as of 02/05/2025.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling performed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture which revealed that the finished products contained Salmonella. The company has ceased production and distribution of the products as FDA and the company continue their investigation to what caused the problem. Consumers who purchased Aleppo Sesame Paste Tahini With lot code 120824-01 should not consume the product and they are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Kashrut Alert and Follow-Up: Revocation of Certification, Krusty Pizza and Imaleh Grill, Hallandale Beach, FL

February 4, 2025 from Kosher Miami:

As follow up to the revocation of hashgacha notice sent on February 2, 2024, Kosher Miami has determined that non certified cheese was used by Krusty Pizza for a number of weeks.

Kosher Miami Rabbonim have recommended that if someone has used their home kitchen equipment or utensils with pizza from Krusty Pizza over the past few weeks, they should consult with their local Rav to determine if kashering is required.

February 2, 2025 from Kosher Miami:

Please be advised that effective immediately, due to kashrus violations, Krusty Pizza and Imaleh Grill, both located at 300 W Hallandale Beach Blvd in Hallandale Beach are no longer certified by Kosher Miami.

United Natural Trading LLC Announces Allergy Alert for Undeclared Milk in Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels

United Natural Trading LLC, Edison, NJ, is voluntarily recalling Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels due to the presence of an undeclared milk allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The date containing products were shipped via online sales via a third-party vendor site, in limited quantities to the Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York areas.

The issue was discovered during an internal review of label management system as an action item from an internal nonconformance.

Cal Yee Farm LLC Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk, Soy, Wheat, Sesame, FD&C #6 and Almonds in Snack Products- upgraded to highest risk level

Cal Yee Farm LLC of Suisun Valley, California is recalling chocolate and yogurt covered products (Dark Chocolate Walnuts, Dark Chocolate Raisins, Dark Chocolate Almonds, Yogurt Coated Almonds and Dark Chocolate Apricots [sold under Cal Yee’s or Cal Yee Farm brands]), Tropical Trail Mix, Butter Toffee.

Almonds [sold under Cal Yee’s and Boa Vista Orchards brands], Mango with Chili, Hot Cajun Sesame Sticks, New Orleans Hot Mix, Fruit Basket 2909 and Fruit Basket 2921 because they may contain undeclared milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

For Cal Yee’s or Cal Yee Farm branded products, items were packaged in clear plastic zippered pouches in either 8 oz, 1 lb, 2 lb and 5 lb size with a bright yellow label identifying the product in front of the pouch, and a small white label containing a UPC code on the back of the pouch. Dark Chocolate Apricots were packaged in two types of plastic containers with a white or yellow label identifying the product with a small white label containing a UPC code on the back of the containers. Fruit Baskets were packaged in a basket with a yellow label identifying the product on the back of the basket. For the Boa Vista Orchard branded Butter Toffee Almonds, the product was packaged in a 6 oz clear plastic zippered pouch with a white label identifying the product. A list of the recalled products is shown in the table here.

Customers with milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 and almonds allergy/sensitivity who have purchased the affected products should not consume the product and should dispose of them or return them to us for a full refund.
