Revised South African Kashrut advisory on misleading Sea Harvest Ad

May 17, 2018: From the Beth Din of Johannesburg:

Sea Harvest Advertisement in Jewish Life - The current issue of Jewish Life magazine has an advertisement from Sea Harvest on pages 50-51. Sea Harvest produces a number of Beth Din certified products, but this advertisement inadvertently features products which are not kosher. The magazine and manufacturer sincerely apologise for this oversight. Please be advised that at present not all the kosher certified Sea Harvest products carry the BD logo. Therefore shoppers should check the UOS website here for verification, by typing in Sea Harvest for the full list.

Updated Food Recall Warning - Certain smoked fish products sold from Four Seasons Marketplace recalled due to potential presence of dangerous bacteria

May 17, 2018 - CFIA

The food safety warning issued on May 13, 2018 has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) food safety investigation.
Four Seasons Marketplace Inc. is recalling certain smoked fish products because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below.
The following products have been sold from Four Seasons Marketplace, 4099 Erin Mills Parkway, Mississauga, Ontario.

illy Recalls 8.8-Ounce Whole Bean Coffee Cans Due to Injury Hazard

May 10, 2018 from the CPSC :
lly 8.8-ounce whole bean coffee cans have been recalled because the coffee bean can lid can detach suddenly with force upon opening when missing an air valve on the bottom, posing an injury hazard.
This recall involves only Whole Bean 250 gram/8.8 ounce cans of illy coffee in medium, dark roast and decaf with no air valve on the bottom of the canister with a best by date of 10/2019, 11/2019, or 12/2019 printed on the bottom of the can. The silver, cylinder-shaped coffee cans have the “illy” logo printed on the front with a red, black or green-colored accent line across the top and bottom of the can.

May 11, 2018 from the CFIA:
illy Espresso Canada, Inc. is recalling illy brand whole coffee beans from the marketplace due to swelling cans that are missing an air valve. Due to a manufacturing flaw, there is the potential that products were packaged without a necessary air valve, and carbon dioxide from degassing beans may accumulate within the coffee can, which could cause the coffee can to expand, creating pressure for the can's lid to suddenly detach with force upon opening. Consumers should not open or use the recalled products described below.
