The following soy and milk allergy alert is from the FDA on April 12, 2012.

John B. Sanfilippo and Son, Inc. (the Company) announced today that it is voluntarily recalling Full Circle Concierge Snack Nut Blend because it contains undeclared soy and milk ingredients. Consumers who are allergic to soy and/or milk ingredients may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. To date, the Company has not received any reports of illnesses in connection with the item listed below. Consumers who have recently purchased the item listed below at Lunds Stores or Weis Markets should not consume this product and should return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement. Item Description: The following items have been sold under the Full Circle Brand in 11 oz cups in Lunds Stores located in MN and Weis Markets in PA, MD, NY and NJ.

The following health alert is from the FDA on April 14, 2012.

Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling 756 cases of DOLE® Seven Lettuces salad with Use-by Date of April 11, 2012, UPC code 71430 01057 and Product Codes 0577N089112A and 0577N089112B, due to a possible health risk from Salmonella. Dole Fresh Vegetables is coordinating closely with regulatory officials. No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall.
The Product Code and Use-by Date are in the upper right-hand corner of the package; the UPC code is on the back of the package, below the barcode. The salads were distributed in fifteen U.S. states (Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin).
This precautionary recall notification is being issued due to an isolated instance in which a sample of Seven Lettuces salad yielded a positive result for Salmonella in a random sample test collected and conducted by the State of New York.
No other Dole salads are included in the recall. Only the specific Product Codes, UPC codes and April 11, 2012 Use-by-Date of Seven Lettuces salads identified above are included in the recall. Consumers who have any remaining product with these Product Codes should not consume it, but rather discard it. Retailers and consumers with questions may call the Dole Food Company Consumer Response Center at (800) 356-3111, which is open 8:00 am to 3:00 pm (PDT) Monday - Friday.

The following is a shmitta alert posted on April 9, 2012.

Shmitta wines from 2008 are being sold in the US. These wines have kedushas shviis and must be treated accordingly; none of the wine can be discarded. Consumers are urged to carefully check the label. If you have purchased these wines, ask your Rav how to handle this product.

The following health alert is from the FDA on April 6, 2012.

Kraft Foods Group, Inc. is voluntarily recalling one code date of Planters Cocktail Peanuts sold in 12 oz canisters (code date 09-Jan-14, UPC 2900007212) because there is a possibility that the product was exposed to water not intended for use in food during the production process.
The following product/code date is being recalled:

Consumers can find the code date on the bottom of the canister. No other code dates or any other Planters products are being recalled.
Approximately 3,000 cases of the recalled product were shipped to retail customers across the United States and Puerto Rico. The affected products were not distributed in Canada.
Consumers who purchased the affected code date of this product should not eat them. They should return them to the store of purchase for an exchange or full refund. Consumers also can contact Kraft Foods Consumer Relations at 1-800-396-2133. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT, Monday to Friday. The affected products were manufactured by Kraft Foods in Suffolk, Va.

The following peanut allergy alert is from the FDA on April 5, 2012.

Odwalla, Inc. is recalling Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster beverage in 12-oz and 32-oz bottles, with "enjoy by" dates prior to and including 23 MAY 2012, because of reports from consumers allergic to peanuts and/or tree nuts experiencing severe allergic reactions after consuming this beverage.
Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster product that is being recalled includes all "enjoy by" dates prior to 23 MAY 2012 and the specific UPC codes listed below.

  • Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster 12-oz bottles UPC Code: 14054 13509
  • Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster 32-oz bottles UPC Code: 14054 13504
  • Odwalla Protein Monster "variety pack" (sold exclusively at Costco) 12-oz bottles, four of which are Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster UPC Code: 0 14054 26659 6

These Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster beverages were distributed nationwide through retail food stores and on-premise foodservice establishments during the last seven weeks. The 12-oz bottles of Chocolate Protein Monster are also available in an Odwalla Protein Monster "variety pack" sold exclusively at Costco during this same timeframe. The variety pack is a 10-pack of 12-oz bottles of the different Protein Monster varieties, four bottles of which are Chocolate Protein Monster.
Chocolate Protein Monster is sold in 12-oz and 32-oz re-sealable plastic packaging and must be kept refrigerated. The beverage labels carry the brand name "Odwalla" and the descriptors "Chocolate Protein Soy and Dairy Protein Shake" and "Protein Monster." Specific "enjoy by" dates can be found printed on the neck of the bottles.
To date, four consumers have contacted Odwalla to report allergic reactions after drinking the product. These four consumers are not known to be allergic to soy and milk but report being allergic to peanuts and/or tree nuts.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Overwaitea Food Group are warning the public not to consume the Western Family brand Pomeberry Blend berries described below. The affected product may contain Hepatitis A virus. The affected product Western Family brand Pomeberry Blend berries is sold frozen in 600g packages bearing UPC 0 62639 31347 0. All lot codes are affected.

The following Canadian health alert is from the CFIA on April 5, 2012.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume Boskovich brand fresh Parsley described below. The affected product may contain Cryptosporidium.
The affected product was sold only on March 19, 2012 from one store, Canada Safeway, 124 Primrose Dr., Lawson Heights Mall, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The product was sold in bunches enclosed with a band indicating the Boskovich brand and Product of USA.
