The following health alert is from the FDA on December 9, 2011.

As a precautionary measure, certain production lots of Tejava® Premium Iced Tea in 12 oz glass bottles are being recalled nationwide due to the possible presence of glass fragments which could be harmful if swallowed. To date, there have been no reports of any illness or injury.
The 12 oz Tejava® production lot code dates being recalled are:

  • 1BT220 1BT221 1BT222
  • 1BT223
  • 1BT252 1BT253 1BT254 1BT255
  • 1BT277 1BT278 1BT279 1BT280
  • 1BT313

These production codes can be found on the back of the bottle label and on the long panel of the case tray. They are for case UPC 6-54871-24901-2, four pack UPC 6-54871-04901-1, and single bottle UPC 6-54871-00901-5.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are asked to return the product to the store where it was purchased and coupons, product replacement, or credit will be issued.
Note: The 1 liter size of Tejava® Premium Iced Tea is NOT affected and is NOT part of this recall.

The following health alert is from the FDA on December 9, 2011.

Pacific International Marketing is working with the Food and Drug Administration and California Department of Public Health to coordinate a recall of Cilantro for potential contamination with Salmonella. FDA has advised that a sample of Pacific Cilantro has tested positive for Salmonella. A total of 6,141 cartons of Cilantro are being recalled.
The product is distributed in Pacific International Marketing cartons of 60 bunches, 30 bunches and 20- 3 bunched sleeves. The product is bunched cilantro with “Pacific” on the twist tie and the UPC code, which is 33383 80104. The UPC code for sleeves is 40695 80104. The product was distributed in California, Arizona, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Indiana, South Carolina, and Missouri through retailers. Consumers should return cilantro purchased after November 16th but before December 10th. The carton codes are as follows:

The following Canadian health alert is from the CFIA on December 10, 2011.



OTTAWA, December 10, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Greenwood Mushroom Farm are warning the public not to consume the sliced mushrooms described below because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The following sliced mushrooms, bearing the code WBB-MA 2011/DE/10, are affected by this alert:

The following kashrus alert from the OU on December 2, 2011.

A small amount of Quaker Instant Oatmeal Weight Control Instant Oatmeal, Cinnamon flavor and Banana Bread flavor, Quaker Foods & Snacks - Chicago IL were mistakenly labeled with an OU Symbol without the "D". These products are dairy and corrective measures were implemented.

The following health alert is from the FDA on November 25, 2011 with and additional information at FDA on December 2, 2011.

Ocean Spray today announced it has taken the precautionary measure of voluntarily recalling certain production lots of its Original Flavor Craisins® Dried Cranberries product in 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages as well as bulk sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages due to the possible presence of very small hair-like metal fragments that are unlikely to cause consumer injury.

To date, the company has not received any reports of consumer complaints relating to this recall. No injuries or adverse effects have been reported regarding these products to date. Ocean Spray issued the voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our consumers.

No other Ocean Spray brand products are affected.

The following nut allergy alert is from the FDA on December 2, 2011.

Krasdale Foods Inc. ,White Plains, NY is recalling Krasdale Crispy Honey Oats and Flakes because it may contain undeclared almonds. Krasdale Crispy Honey Oats and Flakes were distributed to independent retailers, C-Town Supermarkets and Bravo Supermarkets in NY, CT, NJ, PA, RI and MA. Krasdale Crispy Honey Oats and Flakes were sold in a 14.5 oz. cardboard box. The product in question has a best if used by date of “SEP 20 12 P4” on the top of the box.
