The following revised allergy alert is from the Stop and Sbop dated November 30, 2007.

On November 21, 2007 The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company announced a recall of Stop & Shop 2- pound cookie trays produced by Luigi’s Bakery and sold in Stop & Shop stores in CT and NY. The cookies were recalled because the label did not list as ingredients artificial colors including FD&C Yellow #5, which can cause an allergic reaction in some individuals. Upon investigation by regulatory agencies, the cookies were found to contain milk and sulfur dioxide, both of which were not listed on the label and can cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. The cookies were packaged on a plastic plate with cellophane over wrap and a Luigi’s Bakery Sticker affixed to them. They have a UPC code of 20549910000. Customers who have purchased this product and have any remaining product may return it to Stop & Shop for a full refund, or call Stop & Shop Customer Service at (800) 767-7772 for more information.

The following kashrus alert is from Kosherquest.org on November 6, 2007.

Rabbi Eidltz has reported that Menchies Frozen Yogurt in Valley Village, CA, is not kosher supervised and is open on Shabbos. The KIB does not recommend this nor any such store as a kosher store: This store is not a franchise and is not bound by any rules or laws to stick with a kosher mix. The store is making a claim only that they are using a kosher mix; Halachicly and logically one cannot rely on such a claim in such a situation.
