The European Parliament’s committee on agriculture and rural development rejected a proposal on October 13, 2015 that required pre-stunning for meat is to be labelled as organic. This proposal would have prevented kosher meat to be labeled as organic.

A proposal for the European Commision on Organic Farming Standards requires pre-stunning of animals before slaughter in order for them to called organic.
