Passover Kashrut Alerts

The following information was from the Merkaz Passover Koshergram on March 31, 2001.

Pre-washed Packaged Fresh Vegetables require Pesach approval due to the citric acid that may be used in the washing process. The following brands are approved for Pesach:

  • Bodek - (OU-P)
  • Dole - Star-K (no P required)
  • Fresh Express - only with OK-P.

Please note that Dole Very-Veggie Salad contains Sno-Peas (which are kitniot) and is NOT approved for Pesach even when bearing the Star-K.

The following information was received from the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis on April 2, 2001.

Any fresh pre-cut salads are permissible for Passover and do not require any special Passover certification. Be sure not to buy salads that might contain kitniot such as sno-peas.
