The following Passover information for Sephardim is from the Chicago Rabbinical Council Kosher Consumer, April, 2003.
For those that follow the Sefardic custom of eating kitniyos on Pesach, please be aware that regular Non- Pesach soda may be chometz and one cannot assume that it is only a kitniyos (corn syrup) issue. Additionally, Soy Milk may contain a large amount of barley or other starches and would be chometz. At this time, the only soymilk that the Chicago Rabbinical Council can recommend (if bought before Pesach) is the Original Natural Ethnic Soymilk from Vitasoy. This does not include their natural sweetened or vitamin enriched Ethnic.
