The following revised Passover salad information is from the cRc, the Star-K, the OU and the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis on April 7, 2006.

Salads certified by the Vaad Hoeir of St. Louis (OV) will be usable for Passover without special markings except for varieties containing snow peas. The OV does NOT certify any bagged salad containing romaine lettuce and/or spinach. Spring mixes are not certified.

Fresh bagged salads require a reliable certification year round. Specific Star-KP Passover certification is also required on all Fresh Express salads. Dole salads only bearing the plain Star-K (no “P”) are acceptable for Passover, as well. Each bag of salad should be checked for proper certification. Be aware that the Star-K has temporarily removed their certification on many Dole products due to a high infestation of insects.

Baby Carrots under the OU are fine to use for Passover without special Passover certification.
