The following Passover and kashrus alert is from the Denver Vaad, the Young Israel of Sharon and the editor and posted on April 17, 2011 and reposted on March 29, 2012.
NON-kosher shankbones are being offered at local supermarkets, often placed in the Kosher Meat section right next to the kosher meat and chicken. While the supermarkets may mean well, this is seriously misleading to the kosher consumer.
Do not assume that just because the supermarket staff places an item in the Kosher for Passover section that it really is kosher for Passover. For instance, the supermarket will put all Matzos together in the aisle, including those that are actual hametz intended for year-round use but not for Pesach. So read all labels carefully.
In addition, there are many supermarkets, caterers and restaurants that are advertising "Passover" products or seders that are not kosher or kosher for Passover.
