  At times, items not kosher for Passover are inadvertently placed in the Kosher for Passover sections in grocery stores. Please check all items you purchase for Pesach to ensure that they are in fact certified as kosher for Pesach.

  Kasia Cheese Bllinzes and Potato Cheese Pierogi are being sold in a Costco refrigerated case that contain Kosher for Passover refrigerated products. The way the “D” attaches to the cRc triangle, when looking at it from a distance, could be mistaken as a “P”. The items are actually chametz and contain flour.

  Ed. note: This was in the Waltham Costco, but it is likely to happen elsewhere.

• Medicine Update: Some varieties of Benadryl, Motrin, Tylenol and Zyrtec are now listed as chometz-free on our updated 2023 Quick Pick Medicine List. To view: Click Here
• Beer Update: There is no longer a concern of chometz she'avar alav HaPesach after Pesach for any beer sold in the state of Maryland, with the exception of Jewish-owned stores or breweries.
• Shemita Alert: Costco is selling AM Fresh-North America Grapefruits. The bag clip indicates that they are sourced from Israel. This is shemita produce and should be handled appropriately.
• Turtle Food Clarification: The STAR-K 2023 Pet Food List recommends Fluker's Turtle Diet for Aquatic Turtles for Pesach. This recommendation should have specified Fluker's Crafted Cuisine Turtle Diet for Aquatic Turtles in pouches, not Fluker's Turtle Diet Aquatic Turtle Formula in jars.

April 4, 2023 from KF Kosher:

• The Tartikov Label was only added this year.
• Some product doesn't have the Tartikov logo on it and is still Kitniyos free
• This year's product carries a best before date - February/March 2024

March 21, 2022 From KF Kosher:

Heinz tomato ketchup has been specially produced under our supervison for passover 5782

Only those bottles labelled "KOSHER FOR PASSOVER" are supervised for passover.

Please note: due to supply issues, the product is kosher for passover - KITNIYOS

Unfortunately, some bottles have been incorrectly labeled without kitniyos designation. However, all Heinz Tomato Ketchup labeled "KOSHER FOR PASSOVER" contains KITNIYOS.

(Next year, the product is expected to be KOSHER FOR PASSOVER LIMEHADRIN WITHOUT KITNIYOS).

March 29, 2022: Additional information from KF Kosher based on a question from the editor:

The Passover Heinz Ketchup under KF Kosher with Hebrew lettering is also Kitniot.

Recalled Elite products have been seen in stores

March 31, 2023 from the Editor:

Recalled Elite products have been seen in stores, particularly the Chcolate bars which are certified for Passover. Check any products that you have purchased or have in you house to ensure that they have not been recalled.

Health Alert: Elite Product Recall Spring 2022

posted May 9, 2022 by the editor. The Elite products have been recalled in the Spring of 2022 and may show up in stores for 2023 or be in customers cabinets:

Alert from Kayco: "All Elite chocolate products produced at the confectionery factory in Nof Hagalil in Israel, regardless of when they were produced, are NOT for consumption and should be removed from the shelves immediately. The recall pertains to all Elite chocolate products (tablets and impulse bars), Elite cakes, Elite waffles, Energy Cereal Bars, Elite chocolate coated rice cakes, Elite chocolate spreads, Elite Must & Bazooka chewing gum and Elite Toffee candies."
