The following information was received by fax from the Orthodox Union on on September 14, 1999.

The Orthodox Union has learned that the formulation of

• Natalins
• Natalins RX
• Poly-Vi-Flor Chewable Tablets 0.25 mg
• Poly-Vi-Flor Chewable Tablets 0.5 mg
• Poly-Vi-Flor Chewable Tablets 1 mg
• Poly-Vi-Sol Chewable Tablets

contain a non-kosher ingredient. The Orthodox Union has withdrawn its certification from these products (even those products bearing the OU symbol). Because of various considerations, the actual kosher status of these products is a mattr of dispute amongst the early poskim.
This does not apply to Poly-Vi-Sol Drops, which remain OU certified.

The Star-K has published the following on their Star-K website. "Based on information available to the Star-K, and in consultation with our Rabbinic Administrator, Rabbi Moshe Heinemann, we have determined that where a medical need exists, the products may be used.
