May 20, 2026: From Government of Canada:
On May 8, 2026, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licences # 4NDYJPMK and # 6RLKWXL8 of Abe's Frozen Desserts Inc., located in Terrebonne, Quebec.
While the suspension is in effect, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which SFC licences # 4NDYJPMK and # 6RLKWXL8 were issued.
When a business fails to comply with its obligations under the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) concerning food safety, the CFIA will suspend its licence.
Compliance with all regulations is required to maintain a safe food system and prevent food safety risks, including risks that can result in food recalls. A licence suspension is an enforcement action under the SFCA. Licence holders are required to comply with the legislation enforced by the CFIA.
The suspension will be lifted when it is determined that corrective measures have been taken by the licence holder. If corrective action is not taken within 90 days, the licence may be cancelled.
