The following clarifiying information was received from the Chicago Rabbinical Council on November 12, 2003.
While all Hawaiian Punch flavors are certified kosher by the Chicago Rabbinical Council, not all Hawaiian Punch found on the store shelf is recommend for the kosher consumer. Hawaiian Punch is bottled in two ways. When bottled by a soda bottling company, Hawaiian Punch in any flavor may be used - this applies only to the 12 ounce can, 20 ounce plastic bottle and 2 liter plastic bottles - in other words, the same three sizes that sodas come in.
Other sizes of Hawaiian Punch (gallon, 1/2 gallon, juice boxes, etc.) are packed by juice companies. These sizes are hot packed and we cannot verify that the lines are kosher, therefore we do not recommend using the product. The new Hawaiian Punch Lite is made with a kosher flavor concentrate, but is only made in hot pack facilities, so we don't recommend it because of the hot pack, having nothing to do with the flavor.
