Consumer Kashrut Alerts

The following kashrus alert is from the Beth Din of Johannesburg, South Africa on August 1, 2006.

The Kashrut Department wish to inform the public that based on recent research the Beth Din advises not to use the following herbs:

  1. Spinach
  2. Curled Parsley and
  3. Dill

The following are permitted for use:

  1. Baby Spinach (to be checked - see Kashrut Guide page 26)
  2. Dried Parsley Flakes

Flaked Parsley could be checked by trained Mashgichim only or contact the Beth Din on 011 485-4865
